Cyrus Scott has been CrossFitting for 4 years and he is passionate about family, helping others, CrossFit, cooking, and UNC sports. He loves coaching CrossFit because it gives him a platform to interact and work with people. “I truly love watching someone grow and develop in ways that they may not have thought possible while building a relationship with them at the same time,” he says.
Coach Cyrus is living proof that it is never too late to commit yourself to health and fitness. In addition to having Type 1 Diabetes, Cyrus struggled with being overweight as a child and alcohol abuse as an adult. Shortly after getting sober, Cyrus discovered CrossFit, which gave him a fun and healthy outlet to better himself. “I became a coach because I wanted to share the love and passion I have for CrossFit with others.”
Cyrus continues to inspire us both inside and outside of the gym – He recently celebrated 6 years of sobriety and he is about to begin classes at the FSU School of Social Work. Most importantly, Cyrus has defined and conquered numerous challenges in his life, and we are proud to have him as part of CrossFit Black Box.
